\Burning Rubber is no longer on the
Internet and the author's e-mail address is non-functional. Without
permission, SWAT has uploaded this excellent RPG to its Web site
to maintain its availability to the auto-combat tabletop gaming
community.
The SWAT HQ edition of these files
are unchanged from their original appearance on the Internet in the
late 1990s except for
correcting page setup and spelling errors on the
introductory image and HTML files.
Upon request, SWAT will remove the entire
Burning Rubber set of files from its Web site.
Basically, this is just a set of simple rules, so that you can create characters, vehicles and have both normal and auto combat. I suggest that you have played other RPGs before, and also the I'76 computer game before you start with this one, so that you know what it's all about.
I haven't described the world of I'76 at all in the game: it's up to the gamemaster to do that. He also must create fun adventures for his players. However, if I get a good response from you out there, I may do more for the game in the future. Have fun!
Additional testing made me realize there was need for another upgrade, and here it is, v1.2. It is just a minor change to combat rules and the car damage system. I also upgraded the vehicle sheets so they will fit the new rules.
This is the final
version
of the RPG, and no more changes will be done. I won't update this page
any longer, but it will stay up until the day I need the Web space for
something more important. The reason is simple: There is no need for
more
updates. The RPG turned out to be as I wanted. My friends and I enjoy
it
as it is. I hope you do too. : )
Burning Rubber Full Version (4.2 MB)
Contains lots of
graphics,
but I think you'll need Microsoft Word 97 for it to work properly.
Burning Rubber Half Version (1.3 MB)
Smaller version
with
lesser graphics. Can be loaded into Microsoft Windows 95 Wordpad.
Both a character sheet and a vehicle sheet. You will probably need Microsoft Word 97 for these as well.
